McNair Scholars Program

TRIO LogoThe College of Charleston received funding to implement TRiO's Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program on its campus. Housed on the fourth floor of the Stern Student Center, this is a four-year, renewable TRiO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Each year, $220,000 in federal funding is provided to help 25 first-generation college students, low-income and/or under-represented undergraduates prepare for and succeed in doctoral programs. The College also administers TRiO's Upward Bound Program on campus, and has for over 30 years

The McNair Scholars Program includes a summer research experience, service learning, coursework, workshop series and advising that prepares its participants for successful completion of graduate degrees.
